The specialized Doctor's knife or Physician's knife was initially intended for the 1800's era traveling doctor. This pocket knife features a long, skinny Physician's blade that was able to reach inside medicine bottles in order to stir solutions, beak-up chalky powders, or cut pills... aside from the multitude of other cutting tasks. The "flat end" bolster was also used to crush or grind. Later models came with a useful Pen blade or a dull Spatula that could be used as a powder scoop, tongue depressor, or wound probe.
